1. Overview

SIU Prize is a biennial award organized by SIU and sponsored by GAIE celebrating exceptional discoveries in Health Sciences and Computer Science by Vietnamese or Vietnam-descent scientists.

The SIU Prize celebrates exceptional talents among recent doctoral graduates worldwide who are Vietnamese or of Vietnamese descent whose doctoral theses have been successfully defended within the last 5 years prior to the deadline of the nomination process, based on the conferral date of the doctoral degree.

Not only a commendation for remarkable efforts by young Vietnamese and Vietnamese-descent scientists and researchers, SIU Prize also serves as an incentive for the development of creative solutions based on their doctoral work, furthering the sustainable development of Vietnam in particular and the world in general.

A celebration of excellence, SIU Prize is also expected to be a networking event for participants and the intelligentsia in Vietnam and abroad to discuss developmental solutions for Vietnam and the world, and for the involvement of GAIE talents in national projects.

Based on the development orientation of GAIE and SIU, the award focuses on two priority areas: health sciences and computer science.

SIU Prize shall not be awarded posthumously. Should the recipient pass away after the award announcement and before the award ceremony, the prize money will be transferred to SIU Prize Fund; while the trophy and certificate will be awarded to the individual(s) / organization(s) as per the recipient’s will. Should there be no such will, the trophy and certificate will be kept safe in the SIU Prize Museum.
