ABOUT THE AWARD
Since its announcement, the SIU Prize has attracted great attention from the domestic and foreign scientific community, and received valuable support from leaders of ministries, sectors and localities for its significance as well as its meaningful mission FOR VIETNAMESE INTELLECTUAL EXCELLENCE
In the inaugural season of 2023-2024, the SIU Prize Computer Science has made a big impact, receiving more than 100 nominations in various fields from 19 countries. Accompanying the award is the Professional Council, consisting of professors, scientists from prestigious universities, research institutes and leading technology corporations in the United States, Canada, Australia, France and Vietnam.
The SIU Prize Computer Science Award Ceremony, taking place on January 11, 2025, honorably welcomed the presence of leaders of ministries/departments/central branches, leaders of the People’s Committees and departments of Ho Chi Minh City and of other provinces and cities; Consuls General and foreign diplomatic officials; Leaders of educational institutions, research institutes/centers, science and technology academies, scientific associations/networks, corporations, enterprises; Policy makers and scientists from the United States, France, Canada, India and the United Nations. The award ceremony has honored outstanding individuals, who are the representative of Vietnam’s young generation quintessence globally in the field of technology, artificial intelligence. They have produced excellent theses, along with many patents, solutions that are being and will be applied in countries and high-tech corporations, demonstrating the potential of breakthrough innovations in solving major problems of the modern world, especially those in education, health and environment.
Following the success of the SIU Prize Computer Science, the inaugural season of the SIU Prize Health Sciences (2025-2026) seeks the most outstanding doctoral theses on/related to the field of Health Sciences, especially research and development of solutions for the application of science, engineering and technology in medicine, pharmacy, physiology, behavioral science and mental health, medical engineering, medical technology, biomedical science, biomedical engineering, etc. The nomination portal is open from March 2025 to April 30, 2026.
SIU PRIZE HEALTH SCIENCES is expected to motivate, encourage and nurture aspirations of serving for the sake of Vietnamese people and knowledge. Through the award, SIU hopes to build a bridge, connecting Vietnamese intellectuals with scientists, researchers, and inventors around the world in order to contribute to the development of science and technology, serving humanity in general and Vietnam in particular.

March 2025 - April 2026 - Nomination Portal is open for the first season of the SIU Prize Health Sciences.
- Case 1: Direct nomination by Organizations/Individuals via the Online Nomination Portal.
For Organizations (Government agencies, diplomatic missions, overseas Vietnamese organizations, overseas Vietnamese student associations, universities, hospitals/medical centers, academies, research institutes/centers, science associations/networks, corporations/enterprises, innovation incubators...); or Individuals (Professors, scientists, experts working in the areas of expertise related to the SIU Prize’s fields of award) making direct nomination via the SIU Prize website: Organizations/Individuals nominate Candidate/Candidates by registering an account at

and implement the nomination process via the registered account. After the account registration, the SIU Prize Organizing Committee shall send a notification email to the Candidate(s) and register an application account for the Candidate(s) at

Candidates are required to update information, submit documents as required via the provided account. The application process must be completed prior to April 30, 2026.
- Case 2: Nomination by Organizations/Individuals via Reference Letters.
For Organizations (Government agencies, diplomatic missions, overseas Vietnamese organizations, overseas Vietnamese student associations, universities, hospitals/medical centers, academies, research institutes/centers, scientific associations/networks, corporations/enterprises, innovation incubators...) or Individuals (Professors, scientists, experts working in the areas of expertise related to the SIU Prize’s fields of award) who make nomination via reference letters: Candidates are required to register an account at

and use the registered account to implement the nomination process. Candidates are required to update information, submit documents as required via the registered account. The application process must be completed prior to April 30, 2026. - May 1, 2026 - Closure of the nomination period.
- May to August 2026 - The SIU Prize Preliminary Council and the SIU Prize Professional Committee review and select the most outstanding doctoral theses.
- September to October 2026 - The SIU Prize Professional Council reviews and selects the best doctoral theses for the awards.
- November 2026 - Official announcement of the SIU Prize Health Sciences award recipients.
- January 2027 - SIU Prize Health Sciences Award Ceremony & International Conference SIU Shaping Futures.

A. Rights and obligations of SIU Prize candidates
1. Required Documents
1.1. Proof of Vietnamese descent
- For Vietnamese citizens, candidates must submit a notarized/certified copy of their identity card/citizen identification card, or passport (all must be valid).
- For candidates of Vietnamese descent permanently residing in a foreign country, candidates must submit a notarized/certified copy (issued by a competent agency licensed by the government of the host countries) of one of the following documents as proof of current or former Vietnamese nationality:
+ Valid Vietnamese passport
+ Certificate of Vietnamese descent issued by the Vietnamese Embassy/Consulate
+ Birth certificate
+ Identity card
+ Citizen identification card
+ Household registration book
+ Marriage certificate
+ Old passport
- For candidates of Vietnamese descent permanently residing in a foreign country whose biological grandparent or biological parent is of Vietnamese descent, candidates must submit notarized and certified copies of the following documents:
+ Birth certificate evidencing the biological relationship between the candidate and their biological grandparent or biological parent who is of Vietnamese descent, and one of the following documents:
– Certificate of Vietnamese descent issued to the relative (either grandparent or parent) by the Vietnamese Embassy/Consulate
– One of the following documents: birth certificate, identity card/citizen identification, household registration book, marriage certificate, old passport of candidate’s relative (either grandparent or parent) as proof of current or former Vietnamese nationality.
1.2. Nomination documents
- Organization or Individual Nomination form (provided by the SIU Prize Committee).
- Scientific résumé of candidate (form provided by the SIU Prize Organizing Committee).
- Abstract of the nominated doctoral thesis.
- Letters of recommendation from advisors and professors, scientists, experts, scientific and technological organizations specialized in the field of the thesis.
- Full doctoral thesis with an English version in attachment (if the doctoral thesis is written in any language other than English) if the Candidate passes the Preliminary Round.
2. Candidates are entitled to receive detailed information concerning the award (upon request);
3. Candidates shall guarantee the authorship of the submitted thesis and be required to cooperate in resolving any conflicts/complaints concerning the candidate’s descent, the submitted thesis, and other relevant issues;
4. Candidates are admitted to the AIWS network, introduced to businesses and education organizations, and expected to work with the media teams of GAIE and SIU in order to apply the thesis results to practice;
5. Candidates are invited to international conferences and seminars organized by GAIE/SIU;
6. Candidates are invited to conduct visiting lectures, advise Ph.D. students, and help implement GAIE’s and SIU’s applied projects;
7. SIU and GAIE are allowed to use information, images, and theses of all candidates and winners for the purpose of organizing, promoting, and developing the award without incurring any additional payment.
B. Rights and obligations of SIU Prize winners
SIU Prize winners have the rights and obligations of the award participants. In addition, the winners also have the following rights and obligations:
1. Participate fully in the activities within the framework of the award.
2. Write scientific articles for the International Conference within the framework of the award.
3. Take part in the Award Ceremony incorporating the Vietnam tour, and act as a keynote speaker at the International Conferences and talk shows within the award ceremony taking place in Vietnam.
4. Act as an Honorary Ambassador of GAIE and SIU for 02 (two) years after winning the award, promoting the award and providing assistance for the community service activities of GAIE and SIU.
